Berlin metro twin multiple units F76, Delivery: 2014-2017

As the workshops of the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) were used to full capacity due to the general inspection of other vehicle series, the BVG decided to entrust Vossloh Kiepe with the general inspection of the 39 twin multiple units of the F76 series. Therefore, the existing contract on refurbishment was extended to include the general inspection, which is performed in Leipzig within the scope of the refurbishment. Vossloh Kiepe is responsible for the electrical work and our partner, IFTEC, for the mechanical work.

Class 455 electrical multiple units of the UK Porterbrook Leasing Company operated by South West Trains , Delivery: 2014 - 2016

By the modernisation of 91 Class 455 EMUs operated by the South West Trains Vossloh Kiepe is responsible for the change to IGBT technology, i.e. to innovative, energy-saving traction equipment.

Utrecht SIG tramcars , Delivery: 2014-2015

The territorial entity Bestuur Region Utrecht (BRU) has instructed Vossloh Kiepe in Düsseldorf with the modernisation of 26 tramcars. This modernisation includes exchange of the rotating transformer and the compressor as well as reprocessing of the pneumatic connections and components in the vehicle.

Saarbrücken light rail vehicles S1000, Delivery: 2013-2015

In 2012 Stadtbahn Saar GmbH placed an order for modernisation of power and control components for the electrical equipment as well as the power supply for ten dual-mode light rail vehicles of the type S1000 with Vossloh Kiepe GmbH in Düsseldorf. The contract includes an option for another five vehicles.

Kassel Articulated Low-Floor Vehicles NGT6C , Delivery: 2013

Since 2013 the articulated low-floor vehicles NGT6C of the Kasseler Verkehrsgesellschaft (KVG) have been refurbished/modernised during due general inspection and can therefore now operated for another 15 years.

Lausanne Metro BEM 4/6 , Delivery: 2013-2014

For this customer Vossloh Kiepe is refurbishing eight vehicles, with the option for another 14: the six-axle bidirectional articulated light railcars model BEM 4/6. For each vehicle the company is supplying two UTA 201 DC traction assemblies and a main controller. The first shipments are scheduled for the latter half of 2012, with commissioning in Q1/2013. The vehicles were built at the start of the 1990s by VeVey S.A., the electrical equipment was sourced from ABB.

Vancouver SkyTrain MK-I, Delivery: 2013 - 2014

Kiepe Electric has developed battery chargers that can replace the old chargers from the 1980s without modifying the vehicles. Today it is very difficult to procure spare parts for the devices fitted originally, which are now decrepit.

Melbourne Yarra Tram, Delivery: 2013

Having approx. 500 trams in operation, Yarra Tram Melbourne is one of the biggest public transport operators worldwide. In co-operation with our local partner, Messr. TTM, Vossloh Kiepe is supplying auxiliary power converters, type KGU 105, for their W-Class trams. The KGU are servicing the drivers stand AC as well as the air compressor for the braking system.

Bonn Light Rail Vehicles B80C-Z, Delivery: 2012-2018

Vossloh Kiepe modernizes 25 articulated light rail vehicles Typ B of the series 1 and 2. Also the passenger compartment is modernized and the driver cab is re-designed. According to the concept for the electrical equipement the traction control system is being exchanged, consisting of 2 IGBT DC choppers GAA 200 with two appertaining traction control modules ASM and braking resistors are fitted.

Cologne KVB 2400, Delivery: 2012-2016

2400 for the Cologne public transport operator Vossloh Kiepe is supplying and installing the electrical and air-conditioning equipment for refurbishing 28 light rail vehicles (2100 B units) of the Cologne public transport operator (KVB). The vehicles were manufactured by DÜWAG in 1984 and 1985. Vossloh Kiepe is also recabling the entire vehicles. Following refurbishment, the units will be renamed 2400.

Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) operates e.g. 100 twin multiple units of the types F74, F76 and F79 manufactured between 1974 and 1980 in its metro network. Whereas the basic structure of these vehicles is still very good, the electronic components increasingly had obsolescence problems.

Elevated railway Hamburg, Delivery: 2011-2015

For Hamburg’s elevated railway (Hochbahn) ten four-part electric railcars (option for another 40) underwent electrical redesign (conversion DT4-2 to DT4-6). Vossloh Kiepe is supplying the onboard inverters, is refurbishing the doors and installing the complete electrical system. Kiepe is also responsible for vehicle commissioning.

Refurbishing double-deck railcars, Delivery: 2011-2012

Vossloh Kiepe is supplying the electrical and air-conditioning equipment for refurbishing 100 double-deck railcars. In the development and design of the energy supply and air conditioning systems, great attention was applied to energy efficiency and availability. The revamped vehicles have the same properties as new ones.

Munich’s R2.2 railcars, Delivery: 2010-2011

Munich’s public transport authority is having altogether 50 series R2.2 light rail vehicles rejuvenated from top to bottom in 2010 and 2011. A part of the package is a complete makeover, with a repaint, new doors, and redesigned interior to give the vehicles a new 21st-century look.

Wengern alpine Railway, Switzerland, refurbishment, rack-and-pinion railway , Delivery: 2010

Refurbishment: DC 1,500 V, changeover from DC to AC propulsion, supplied up to 2010. The Wengernalpbahn is the world’s longest continuous rack-and-pinion (cog) railway. It links Lauterbrunnen (797 m) and Grindelwald (1067 m) with Kleine Scheidegg (2061 m). This narrow-gauge line (800 mm) includes gradients of up to 18 and 25 percent.
