Kiepe Electric develops and manufactures traction equipment, on-board power supply systems, vehicle control systems and many electrical components for buses and urban rail vehicles. Our vehicle equipment is supplemented by further systems from other manufacturers to an all-inclusive package and thus supplied to the customer from a single source. Our services range from project planning to the long support of vehicles in line-service operation through the manufacture and the putting into service. Hybrid Buses

Barely any emissions, zero noise: when Kiepe Electric's hybrid-propelled bus approaches a stop or traffic lights, there is nothing to smell or hear. And thanks to smart energy management, the vehicles consume much less fuel. So it's not surprising that these double-articulated buses with their innovative propulsion system are attracting attention worldwide

Fuell cell buses

The special feature of the environmentally friendly articulated buses is the combination of battery and fuel cells, which are used as range extender. In practice, this means that the buses can be operated about 300 kilometres daily and that it is not necessary to recharge the battery during the operation because the energy stored in the battery and the electric energy generated in the fuel cells covers the average daily energy consumption.

Electric drives developed by Kiepe Electric are highly efficient and much more efficient than comparable internal combustion engines. The brake energy is regenerated, which reduces the total energy consumption. Thus, Kiepe Electric has realised projects with regeneration of energy into the overhead contact line system and with on-board storage of energy in supercaps, batteries or flywheel storage units. In these projects the primary energy was reduced by up to 25 %.
The noise and exhaust gas emissions can be reduced significantly with a hybrid diesel-electric drive. Vehicles supplied with energy via overhead contact lines can even perform zero-emission operation in the inner cities.

Proved and tested drive technology from Kiepe Electric for 12 - 25 metre long buses

Kiepe Electric has developed a modular drive concept for all kinds of electric buses. As each city has different conditions and requirements, we offer customised solutions adapted to the respective situation.

Kiepe Electric has developed single-axle and two-axle drives as well as drives with hub motors for 12 - 25 m long buses on the basis of the same technology platform. Thanks to these multi-axle drives it is now possible to design large-volume buses with good acceleration and deceleration characteristics and thus to realise comfortable solutions when the traffic volume increases.

The world’s first 24 m long, fully low-floor double-articulated trolleybuses have now already been successfully operated in line service in Geneva, Zurich, Lucerne and St. Gallen for some years.
