Vossloh Kiepe supplied the electrical equipment for 27 trolleybuses operated by Verkehrsbetriebe Lausanne. There was also an option for another 16 vehicles.

The newly ordered 18-meter articulated Swiss Trolley 4 vehicles had a number of new technical features compared with their predecessors including the downsized traction motors (2×120 kW) each powering a drive axle. The DPU inverters were lighter and smaller. The resulting weight loss offered considerable energy-saving potential.
The articulated trolleybuses also featured the newest-generation OSA 500 modular current collector. Besides allowing automatic engagement, the OSA 500 is remarkable for quicker de-wirement detection at the current collectors made possible by monitoring the speed of the rope pulleys.
