Dayton, USA

Delivery: 2014

In 2013 the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority (GDRTA) awarded Kiepe Electric USA a $5.7 Million USD contract to supply four pilot dual mode electric trolley buses. The pilot buses were required to operate in service for 1 to 2 years to prove the viability of the dual mode design.

Since 2015, the buses successfully operated in Dayton’s climate of snow, ice and sub-zero temperatures of winter and the excessive 100 degree F plus heat and humidity of the summer. With the successful completion of the pilot program and the Altoona testing, GDRTA executed the first option for 26 electric buses in early 2018 and a second option for 15 additional vehicles in 2019.
